Sunnynook September Marathon

We are hosting a community marathon over the month of September!

All members of our community regardless of age, ability or fitness can run, walk, stroll or roll through our new and very much loved Sunnynook Park.

The idea of a marathon (42km) sounds very challenging, however let's break it down: ~1km is one loop! This means - if you walk around the park about 2 times everyday during September - you will have completed a marathon!!

Anyone of any ability can do it, on foot, buggies, wheel chairs!

We hope you are doing well in your bubbles! 

Physically Distanced Sunnynook September Marathon! 

We are not cancelling our Marathon, but adapting it to ensure that we keep our community safe!

  • Safety first! Please look out for and follow Government instructions for activities in Alert Level 4.

  • Maintain physical distancing with people outside your bubble – keep at least 2m between yourself and others. When exercising outdoors, you are not required to wear a mask (you must maintain physical distancing!)

  • Our Marathon can be done virtually from your home, or your local exercise route.

  • There are lots of free tools you can use to track your distance.

Everyone who registers goes in the draw for some awesome spot prizes!

There are 3 ways to track your progress:

  • Record your progress in your marathon booklet (available from the Community Centre)

  • Download a form and print it out, fill it in and send it back to 

  • Log your progress online - click below
